This is Sierra. A great little Welsh/Arab pony cross. We got Sierra when she was about 1.5 years old. She was brought into a local hunter/jumper barn to be trained and sold as a "3 year old". When the barn discovered her real age they stopped immediately, but she was going to go back to her owner. So we stepped in and bought her and she has been growing up here ever since. She has an amazing temperament. In the week that she was in training, she was being ridden w/t/c by advanced beginner children and started over small crossrails with more experienced teens. So we consider Sierra an investment into our future childrens riding adventures. (Yes that's right, we bought a pony for our kids, before we had kids...any excuse to buy a cutie like Sierra!)

In the Spring of '03, Sierra turned 3 and we decided to slowly re-start her under saddle training. She went to a few offsite lessons with Jack in May and did very well. She waited patiently for Jack's lesson to finish and then was tacked up in the ring. She has a wonderful mind and although not always sure what you are asking, she tries to figure it out without getting upset. We also took Sierra to a few breed inspections and in-hand shows. Sierra went to an RPSI inspection for their pony books. She scored high enough for the main mare book, but due to lack of pedigree had to be placed into the Pre Mare Book II. Sierra went to the NEDA Fall Festival. This was a big show for our pony's first public outing, but she handled it very well. She placed 2nd in the Sport Pony In Hand class. Sierra has a beautiful pony type with solid conformation and has received 8s on her walk. But most importantly for a pony, she has an A+ temperament. We are very proud of our little rescue pony!

Sierra was sold in late fall 2005 to Mitchel in MD. Sierra is the Queen of Mitchel's sport pony farm and competes in Mounted games.

Progeny

Sierra has produced two foals. Both boys are proving to be of exceptional character and wonderful German Riding Ponies.

Dankeschöne HM: 2005 RPSI German Riding Pony gelding by Donar Weiss ggf. Danny was shown in hand as a foal and held his own against the full warmblood foals. He ended the year as Champion USDF All Breed RPSI Weanling Colts/Geldings. Danny was sold to Kristen in OH and has been started undersaddle. He is well on his way to a dressage career.

Cedar: 2006 RPSI German Riding Pony gelding by Benno's Dream. Cedar was born with Sierra's new owners. By all reports he is a stellar example of what a German Riding Pony should be. Solid conformation, beatiful movement and that wonderful pony temperament. We don't have many photos of Cedar, but hopefully we will receive more as he starts his riding career.
