| The Olympic Ferro son Rousseau is the leading producer of dressage horses in the Netherlands, according to the KWPN’s 06-07 breeding index where Rousseau is listed with a dressage rating of 181. Two years in a row, Rousseau’s sons were hailed as Champion of the KWPN Stallion Show, an unprecedented event that the KWPN would select successive Champions by the same stallion. With five licensed sons, scores of Champion mares, foals, and top riding horses at the annual Dutch National Championships, Rousseau’s dominion as a world sire has begun. Rousseau stepped into the spotlight from his earliest debut at the 2001 KWPN Stallion Licensing at Den Bosch. A finalist in the Championship ring, Rousseau was the topper at the KWPN Select Sale which followed. The excited demands from the Dutch breeders gave way to the decision to allow him to stand in Europe before brining him to the US. Rousseau stood three years in the Netherlands, before moving to Germany. His Silver Medal finish at the 2003 FEI World Championships for Young Horses impressed officials of the Hanoverian, Oldenburg and Westphalian Verbands who gave Rousseau lifetime licensing and access to these important mare bases. He stood two years at Hengststation Pape in Hemmoor, Germany and now has sons preselected for the Hanoverian licensing. Rousseau was the 2002 PAVO Cup Champion, 2003 PAVO Cup Reserve Champion, and the winner of the 2003 KWPN Stallion Show. His daughter Violita (Rousseau-Krack C) placed 3rd in the 2005 Dutch National Mare Show, his daughter Wodora (Rousseau-Columbus) placed 4th in the same event in 2006. His son Zenon (Rousseau-Whinny Jackson) earned a score of 9 for dressage at his Stallion Performance testing and will go on to a career under British international rider/owner Wayne Channon. Blue Hors Zack (Rousseau-Jazz), the 2007 Champion of the KWPN Stallion Show, was the highest selling young stallion in history at the KWPN Select Sale, selling to Blue Hors Stud for a spectacular 430,000 €. |
