In 2006, Werbellin and Christopher Hickey finished fourth in the nation on the final list for the Intermediaire Championships at Gladstone, and went on to win the Region 8 Championships at Intermediaire I and Intermediaire Freestyle. Werbellin showed lightly in 2007 with scores up to 75% at Intermediaire I, while continuing to polish the Grand Prix movements at Hilltop.
Werbellin is a Class I Stallion and was fourth overall in his German Stallion Testing. He successfully competed in show jumping while in Germany, winning 19 classes. Werbellin is described in the Hengstbuch as “a versatile, talented riding horse of the best quality, who is bred out of well-proven performance bloodlines.” He is the son of the legendary Weltmeyer, recognized as a top producer of Licensed Stallions, States Premium Mares, and top FEI-Level competition horses. Werbellin’s dam, SPS Lady Laurin, produced several States Premium Mares. Her motherline is represented in the German Jumper Breeding Program and this line has produced the stallions Sao Paulo and Askan. Lady Laurin’s sire Legat is the damsire of Isabell Werth’s, Satchmo.
Werbellin’s offspring are successful competitors themselves. In 2006, Waterford SF was exported to Germany and approved at Redifin, and will attend his Performance Testing this fall. In the US, Wrival and Weltissimo continue to win on the A Hunter Circuit; Werona, a Premium Mare has become a successful producer of breed show winners; Wakefield was the Grand Champion Colt for the USDF/GAIG NE Finals. From its inception through 2006, a Werbellin offspring has been Champion and/or Reserve winner of the NEDA Futurity. Amateur and junior riders, as well as professionals, are competing and enjoying Werbellin offspring in dressage, jumpers, hunters, and eventing. |
